Ms. Nina Uhl,

I represent CodeBrew Technology which has released its ExpressBPEL BPM Platform which is a BPM platform consisting of the

  following products,

         - ExpressBPEL Process Engine

         - ExpressBPEL Editor

         - ExpressBPEL O&M (Operations center)

ExpressBPEL Engine is an enterprise class Process Engine capable of hosting business process defined using the WS-BPEL 2.0 standard. The editor allows a business process analyst to define business process using the WS-BPEL 2.0 Standard.

I would like to explore the possibility of collaborating with developers of the ARIS to essentially be able to take process definitions created in ARIS and run the same in ExpressBPEL engine. Any pointers/contact information would be useful.

regards,

Krishnan Subramanian

The OpenBPM capability of ARIS 9 supports the export to BPMN 2.0 (in addition to the known export into XML). These two standard formats could possibly be imported in ExpressBPEL.

Is it really possible to import and export BPMN models in ARIS 9? According to documentation, both export and import are available. However, when a colleague of mine is trying to import BPMN file, an error box appears without any message on it. Error appears prior to any actual file being selected or even a file selection dialog being shown. Therefore, it is not related to any possible error in BPMN file as such. At the same time, standard AML XML import and export works very fine.

Is this behavior due to a license limitation? If so, an explicit message about the scope of the license would be very much helpful. If some special requirements for a database intended for BPMN import exist, then it must be clearly written in documentation.

Dear Mr. Smirnov,

I am sorry to hear that you are having problems importing .bpmn files. I tried to replicate the issue, but I do not get the error message you are referring to.

In order to understand the problem in more detail we would require more information:

  • Exact version of ARIS you are using
  • UI Language
  • License privileges assigned to the user
  • Filter used
  • Example .bpmn file you are attempting to import

I would be grateful if you could provide this information to arissupport@softwareag.com, referencing this conversation. This allows us to work on a effective resolution of this issue in an optimal way.

Best regards,

Alex

Dear Mr. Bielowski

Many thanks for a quick reply.

  • Exact version of ARIS you are using - 90.0.2, JRE 1.7.0_13
  • UI Language - English
  • License privileges assigned to the user - Business Process Modelling & Analysis
  • Filter used - Entire Method, BPMN 2.0
  • Example .bpmn file you are attempting to import - Not applicable because the error appears before any file has been selected or possible to select.

Please observe that it is my colleague who has encountered this error. Most probably, I will advise him to contact tech support for clarifications after he returns from vacation. However, my work depends on his results, so I am keen to know the resaons of the error, if possible. You may erase these posts, if not relevant to the topic.

Sincerely

Konstantin

We identified a solution to the issue that you are encountering. Actually, a report was wrongfully assigned to a specific license. This will be corrected in the next service release.

Up until then, global ARIS support is able to provide you with an unrestricted copy of this report. The BPMN interface should work just fine after the import of this report in your installation.
