Link models
You can open linked models with objects using the Start objects function. This is useful, for example, if you want to show a close relationship between models.
For example, you have modeled the organizational structure of a company in an organizational chart. You assign the persons modeled there to the activities in a business process. By linking the objects of the persons to the organizational chart, you can use these objects to open the organizational chart and view the organizational assignment of the person in the overall organizational structure.
Procedure
- Open the Attributes pane by clicking on View/Attributes. The Attributes entry is preceded by a check mark.
- Click on the object to which you want to link a model.
- Click on the Edit link () button of the Link row in the Attributes pane. The Edit link dialog opens.
- Enter a name for the link in the Title box.
- Navigate in the Link box to the directory the model is stored in using the Browse() button.
- Select the model name and click on Select file.
- Click on OK to close the dialog.
The link is inserted for the selected object. If you have selected the object and then press F7, the linked model opens.
Tip
Similar to other attributes, you can place the Link attribute in the modeling area by clicking on the attribute value in the Attributes pane and simply dragging it to the modeling area. The attribute is placed in the model window and is preceded by a symbol, and you can start the link by pressing F7.
