Modeling area toolbar of ARIS Express
The toolbar provides you with quick access to frequently required functions.
Home: Opens the Home area of ARIS Express, where you can access recently used models, amongst other things.
New: Creates a new model. When you click on the button, the model types based on which you can create your models are offered.
Open: Opens a model. When you click on the button, the list of available models is offered.
Save: Saves your changes.
Print preview: Opens the print preview for the current model.
Print: Prints the current model.
Cut: Cuts out attribute values.
Copy: Copies attribute values.
Paste: Pastes cut or copied contents, e.g. attribute values, provided that the cell permits the format of the attribute value.
Delete: Deletes selected items.
Format painter: Transfers the format from one item to another.
Properties: Opens the Properties dialog for selected items.
Export graphic as EMF: Outputs the model graphic in *.EMF (file format for vector graphics) format.
Export graphic as PDF: Outputs the model graphic in *.pdf (Adobe document format) format.
Export model information as PDF: Outputs the model contents (graphic and object attributes) in *.pdf (Adobe document format) format.
Export model information as RTF: Outputs the model contents (graphic and object attributes) in *.rtf (Microsoft file format for text) format.
Undo: Undoes editing steps.
Redo: Redoes editing steps that were undone.
Previous model: Activates the model that was active before the currently active model.
If you have activated model 3 and had previously activated models 2,4,1 in this order, model 1 will be activated if you click on this button.
Next model: Activates the model that was active after the currently active model.
If you have activated model 3 and had previously activated models 2,4,1 in this order, model 1 will be activated if you click on this button.
Size of appearance: Indicates the current size of appearance of the model. You can enter the desired size of appearance or select a specified value by clicking on the down arrow.
Enlarge: Enlarges the model appearance in 10 % increments.
Reduce: Reduces the model appearance in 10 % increments.
Toggle grid: Toggles the grid.
Connection mode: Toggles the connection mode on and off.
Insert model attribute: Places model attributes in the modeling area.
Insert free-form text: Places free-form text in the modeling area.
Insert graphic objects: Places graphic objects in the modeling area. If you click on this button, a list of graphic objects will be displayed for selection.
Insert SmartDesign: Inserts a model part (SmartDesign) that can be edited quickly in a table using the keyboard, while the model graphic is automatically updated.
Edit SmartDesign: Opens a model part (SmartDesign) for editing. Allows model contents to be entered quickly using the keyboard while the model graphic is created automatically.
Arrange: Aligns multiple selected items. Click on the down arrow to select the desired alignment. The last selected alignment will be displayed as an icon and can be selected directly by clicking on it.
Bring forward: Places selected items in front of items that cover them. If you selected multiple items, they are all placed in front of the covering items. The order of the selected items in relation to each other remains unchanged.
Send backward: Places selected items behind items that they cover. If you selected multiple items, they are all placed behind the covered items. The order of the selected items in relation to each other remains unchanged.
Left: Aligns the selected text to the left.
Centered: Centers the selected text.
Right: Aligns the selected text to the right.
Font: Assigns a font to the selected text, e.g., Arial or Verdana.
Font size: Indicates the font size for the selected text in points.
Bold: Enables or disables bold formatting for the selected text.
Italic: Enables or disables italic formatting for the selected text.
Underline: Enables or disables underlining for the selected text.
Strikethrough: Enables or disables strikethrough display for the selected text.
Font color: Colors the selected text.
Reset character formatting: Resets the selected text to the default font.
Numbering: Numbers the selected paragraph.
Bullets: Adds bullets to the selected paragraph.
Decrease indent: Decreases the indent for the selected paragraph.
Increase indent: Indents the selected paragraph to the right.
Find box: Input box that you can use to quickly find objects, connections, free-form texts, and attributes in the model. Items found are highlighted in color in the Attributes pane in the model window.
Back: Performs a search for the term entered in the Find box from right to left and upwards (backwards search).
Next: Performs a search for the term entered in the Find box from left to right and downwards (forward search).
