Lane
Object type: In BPMN, lanes are used for organizing and categorizing flow elements in a process or pool (participant). They are therefore parts of a process or pool. In BPMN 2.0, lanes do not feature a predefined semantic, i.e., you can use any classification criterion to create lanes. Lanes are often used to map internal departments and roles or IT systems. They can be nested.
