Link object

You can link a document or an application to an object and trigger it from there with the Start objects function.

You wish for example, to open an e-mail template containing the address of a person from an object of the Person type.

Procedure

  1. Open the Attributes pane by clicking on View/Attributes. The Attributes entry is preceded by a check mark.
  2. Click on the placed object.
  3. Click on the Edit link (Edit link button) button of the Link row in the Attributes pane. The Edit link dialog opens.
  4. Enter a name for the link, for example E-mail to person responsible in the Title box. If you do not enter a title for a link the content of the Link box is displayed as the name in the Attributes panel.
  5. First enter mailto: in the Link box.
  6. Enter the e-mail address of the person responsible behind the colon.
  7. Click on OK to close the dialog.

The link is inserted for the selected object. After you have selected the object and pressed the F7 key a new e-mail template is opened where the e-mail address of the person responsible is already filled in.

Tip

Similar to other attributes, you can place the Link attribute in the modeling area by clicking on the attribute value in the Attributes pane and simply dragging it to the modeling area. The attribute is placed in the model window and is preceded by a symbol, and you can start the link by pressing F7.
