Dear community
I am wondering if it is possible via User management to restrict the ARIS Architect license only for certain databases.
Reason is we administrate more than 30 databases for several countries and we would like to assign certain dbs for specific architect user to manage them.
Is there a way besides setting up several server for separating the db administration?
Best regards
Alexander
Dear Alexander,
In ARIS Architect 9.8 a user won't see databases of other user's unless there were access privileges assigned.
And instead of setting up several ARIS Design/Connect Server, you could use ARIS' multi-tenancy concept. Tenants are separating ARIS data from each other on a logical layer. Means, while sharing the same physical ARIS installation, several tenants exist side by side without affecting each other. So not only databases, but also filters, templates, reports, macros etc. could be added/changed/removed in one tenant without side effects on other tenants. Please note that tenants in ARIS 9 are a licensing parameter.

Dear Rune
thank you for the quick answer, the solution you propose we use for ARIS Designer licenses but is this also applicable for ARIS Architect licenses? In the ARIS user management I cannot figure out how to set a Architect license for a specific database, because right now under database privileges all dbs are accessible stating "system user".

Maybe I didn't explain properly what I meant with limiting database access.
You grant database access only to those databases for a specific user where that account should have access to. If not even Read privilege has been assigned on a database, that user account won't be able to see such databases, regardless of ARIS Designer or ARIS Architect.
You can assign database access via Architect/Administration within each database, or in browser via User Management.
Hope this helps to understand that option.

Dear Rayudu,
ARIS' multi-tenancy is a concept for separating ARIS data into logically separated areas by leveraging the same ARIS installation for all tenants. Discussing use cases for meeting your requirements is typically subject for hiring Global Consulting Services.
That topic is similar to another one, distributed ARIS installation. Here, an ARIS installations spans across several computers. We offer a technical documentation to do such an installation on your own, but we strongly recommend attending a dedicated training course to gather the necessary experience on that architecture. Much easier for most customers is to leave that with a technical ARIS consultant who plans, installs and configures the requested ARIS installation.
