i have similar problems:
using Windows xp i try to start aris-express. it opens but when i try to open previous saved files it simply does nothing.
reinstallation and installation didn't help.
i deleted the whole arisexpress-folder in my profilepath allready, no files can be opened.

Hi, my name is Michael, I am studying Economic Informatics. That is why I need Aris to study. I have a similar error occuring if I want to start Aris. Uninstallation and reinstallation did not solve the problem yet. It says:

I would be really happy if anyone could help me.
First I had another problem concerning the wrong Java version but I solved it and now this problem occurs. You will understand I am not really happy wasting so much time on getting Aris software working :/

Hi,
@Andy: make sure you use a JRE newer or equal that 1.6.0_10. The current version is 1.6.0_25.
@Armin: does the creation of new models work, including saving and reopening? If yes, you could send a broken file (one of those which you can't open) to contact@ariscommunity.com.
@Michael: did you copied the ARIS Express icon to another folder or desktop? In that case, if the JRE updates the folder where the the webstart cache is located, this link becomes invalid. Delete this shortcut, open the system panel, first page, section temporary internet files, click "Show/Anzeigen", right click on ARIS Express and "create shortcut".
