Some BPMn related questions

There used to be Fragments that you could define for repeatable parts for Models. I believe you can still do this in the Aris Architect (client version), but I have not seen it yet in Aris Connect (browser version). I don't specifically use Fragments, so you might want to do some searching to see what is available.

For Assignments on Models these are noted in Connected Models and can be accessed in Queries/Reports. I have attached a report I created using the WYSIWYG reporting tool that you can use as an example.

Hi Arnout,

a standard solution for repeatable parts is using sub-processes. In BPMN you can differentiate between an embedded sub-process which includes parts of the calling process (for hierarchical modeling) and call activities that includes a process that can be reused and called from any position from any given process. In the calling process you can show the collapsed version of the sub-process/call activity symbol which hides the internals of the sub process or you can show the internals of the sub-process in the expanded version of the symbol (so called inline presentation).

To realize this BPMN semantic technically the ARIS assignment mechanism is used, so there is a relationship between calling and called process including the objects in the called sub-process (but be aware that the BPMN notation does not allow a sequence or message flow from an object inside the sub-process to an object outside the sub-process). This feature is available in all ARIS versions and UIs. 

A standard way to extract all information is e.g. the standard report: Output functions across multiple
assignment levels.

1. Could you please elaborate more what is process engine?
2. We did already a similar query, instead of Enterprise BPMN collaboration diagram (3rd object) we put Enterprise BPMN process diagram but looking for some direct connection between the Enterprise BPMN collaboration diagram and activities, also those assigned in lower level.

Thank you Klemens for good suggestion about call activities as well as created connections that could be reported via queries. Once we get into BPMN conversion, we will consider usage of call activities for reusable parts.
