Hello Guys,
">I would like to know if anyone can help me with the following question:
">I need to exchange some models designed in EPC notation for BPMN 2.0 in Aris Business Architect is it possible?
">Or do I need to redesign the entire design using the new notation?
">The reason which I need to transform all the processes designed in EPC, is because the BPMS has BPMN engine for execution of business processes.
Thanks in advance everyone's help,
Hi Alexandre,
I don't speak Português, so I have to answer in English. There are different ways to do this conversion. You could just copy the content of the EPC to the clipboard and paste it into a BPMN 2 model. In many cases, this is already a good start and saves manual work.
Another option would be (in case you got many models) to write a custom transformation, either by creating an ARIS script or using the ARIS Process Automation Architect. ARIS SOA Architect also provides a built-in EPC to BPMN 2 transformation, but I guess using this one makes only sense if you have really many models.
So there are several options, but the truth is that the modelling paradigm of EPC and BPMN are different and that transforming an EPC to BPMN will not create optimal BPMN if you don't put additional transformation logic at work.
Let us know how it worked out for you!
