- **Do not add IP information to the models** We do not store PII, SPII, PBI nor CBI or UCTI, product specs/names, supplier name, detailed settings, measures etc., instructions in ARIS.
- Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
- Sensitive Personally Identifiable Information (SPII)
- Proprietary Business Information (PBI) or currently known within EPA as Confidential Business Information (CBI)
- Unclassified Controlled Technical Information (UCTI)
- Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI)
- There is an undo button
- You can undo as many changes as possible from the last save
- Occurrence vs Definition copy
- Occurrence copies create links to other objects, so if changed then all the linked one's changes
- Definition is a unique item and not linked
- When you decide to “Update” an existing box, know that it could change numerous other boxes and numerous boxes in other models.
- Use the details tab and occurrence pane to see where the object is linked to before “updating”
- What is the difference between and Activity and an Event
- An Event is only a “status change” and usually does not have a duration. An Event will trigger an activity. For example, “the truck arrived at the dock” is an event and will then trigger an Activity (e.g., unload the truck) which takes time and therefore has a duration time.
- An Activity describes the “to do,” means what needs to be done and especially important usually has a duration time (Start time – End time). In our example from above, the unloading of the truck takes x amount of time.
- What is the different decision/rules/gateway objects (XOR, OR AND)
- XOR Only one path is taken
- AND all paths must be taken (Parallel paths)
- OR Any number of paths can be taken
- How should I name my process? (Process Naming)
- An easy-to-understand name should describe the goal of the process being named, or if it’s a task, describe the result of completing the task. For example, if a process requires an email to be sent to a customer confirming they have ordered a specific product, a good process name would be ‘Send customer confirmation email.’

Hi Brandon,
Two comments to your post:
- There is an undo button ==> You can undo as many changes as possible from the last save: That is true for most models, but not for all. Matrix models, e.g. don't have an undo button (if you think it is useful, you can vote for my idea: Add Undo and Redo Button in matrix/spreadsheet | Share your ideas)
- What is the different decision/rules/gateway objects (XOR, OR AND) ==> AND all paths must be taken (Parallel paths): That is not necessarily the case. It only means that all conditions apply but parallelism suggests that everything happens at the same point in time. This however, it not how it is defined. The AND does not consider time, it only says all of the following must happen.
Best,
Veronika
