Hi, dear SAG colleagues,
The next issue is identified: when you try to copy the graphics (the entire model or part of the model), you cannot paste them as graphics to another app, e.g., MS Word. For all previous releases, there was no such issue—we could copy/paste graphics from ARIS to any external app.
I've checked this for both - Enterprise and Cloud Advanced...
Knowing if it is a bug or done on purpose would be great.
Dear Alexander,
I assume you refer to the web-based Designer. You are right, that this worked in the Java-based Designer clients. The background is, that Java provides some native support for the Windows clipboard for Copy & Paste of non-textual data from or to other applications. But web browsers come with some additional security restrictions when accessing the clipboard. Therefore this has not been implemented so far in the web-based clients. What you can use there is an export of the graphic to a file.
Just checked if it is already in our ideas portal and found an entry. So it seems, there are also others who think this is desirable. So you could vote on: Copy ARIS Connect and paste vector graphics | ARIS - SHARE YOUR IDEAS
Kind regards
Dirk
Export graphics is not an option at all:
- A recent case - I had to copy about 40 model pieces into the presentation. 40 files for export is a very very sad story.
- Now, with Export you have only emf, png, jpg. And emf (at least with SR27) cannot be opened with any office app, it looks as corrupted.
- And the quality of the jpg and png after export is far from exciting, unfortunately.
I would appreciate it if you could check this copy/paste issue and fix it for the current or further releases.
Thank you!
Hi Dirk,
Thank you for repyl!
I'm sorry, my bad—I did not mention this. I'm talking about Java-based (Architects) tools.
So yes, I've tested on (different clients, different SRs) in SR26, SR25, SR24... etc. it works as it should work - you copy a piece of the model (or the entire model) and paste it whenever you need. in SR27 it does not! The paste command is not active in office apps. One client has SR27 as Enterprise edition, and another - as Cloud Advanced Architect - the same problem.
It seems this is a bug.
Hi Alexander,
I have the same issue with SR27 compared to SR24. My first guess was, that it depends on the JRE version or on the JRE configuration. But this seems not to be the reason. It's the same behaviour with the same JRE version: SR24 works, SR27 not.
And: There is no difference between the JAVA download client as Jar file and the installed client with an embedded JRE.
What I am doing actually is to makes screen shots from a high resolution monitor. This is fully sufficient for presentations and better than the jpg graphic export.
Regards
Klemens
