Hi,
I am trying to build a model in ARIS Architect. I have a couple of diagrams using occurrences of the same objects. I have deleted the relationship between two objects on all diagrams, however in the relationships window, that relationship still exists. I need to delete the actual relationship so that the underlying model is correct. Please could someone let me know how to do this?
Many thanks
Craig
We've had this issue too with the way some users delete connections between occurrences (we (ARIS Administrators) don't actually know how they do it, we only see the same results you see with connection definitions being left behind).
Usually reorganizing the database does the trick. This of course can be problematic, if not all object definitions are anchored in some model (reorganizing the database deletes any definitions that have zero occurrences), therefore one should consult other users of the database first before attempting this.
Hi,
Kay is right, reorganization of the database does the trick, but not every user can do this (for the same reasons Kay mentioned). You need special privileges on the database to execute that. What every modeller can do:
Select the unwanted connection in the relationships window and hit the "delete" button. "Del" on the keyboard will do as well. If there is an occurrence left in any model, ARIS will warn you.
It is good practice to have the "reorganization" performed nightly or weekly (you can automate that), because as you noticed such debris gets created all the time in modelling practice. It's the same as in a sculptors workshop: You have to use the broom from time to time. Or people will start using the "dust" accidentally again.
