Hello ARIS Community,
I'm currently evaluating ARIS (Basic, Advanced & Process Mining Basic) using the trial version of ARIS Cloud (https://aris.com/try-aris-for-free/), with the following details:
- Portal version: 10.2025.7.0.310039749 (Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at 08:48:02 CST)
- ARIS version: 10.2025.7.0.310039749 (Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at 10:21:31 CST)
I'm trying to import or create ArchiMate (3.x) and BPMN models so that I can refer to one from the other. However, I'm struggling to figure out how to do this in the web interface.
I have already checked the community posts and documentation, but most of the references and screenshots I find seem to be from the Windows client version, not from ARIS Cloud's web interface.
When I attempt to create an ArchiMate model, I can't select it as a model type—it gives the message “Unable to suggest model type,” even though the model type MT_ARCHIMATE_3
is available under Conventions > Model types.
How can I:
- Import or create ArchiMate (3.x) and BPMN models in ARIS Cloud (web interface)?
- Link or reference models of one type (e.g., ArchiMate) from the other (e.g., BPMN)?
Any help or step-by-step guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,
I would check the filter that is applied to the database. You can easily do that by right-clicking on the database icon that says "sample content" (your second screenshot). I would make sure, for such use cases, that the filter is set to entire method.
If you are, however, testing your use case in the basic version, then it can relate to the unavailability of that model resp. that the content you try to import is too sophisticated (see screenshot below; left basic, right advanced)
Hope this helps in some way :)
Best,
Veronika
