With the new release of ARIS 9.8 SR4, we introduce the new table-based modeling to ARIS Connect and all editions of ARIS Cloud. It enables easy table-based capturing and parallel visualization of processes. This feature improves the user-friendliness for modelers tremendously and saves time by reducing the amount of clicks.

You just add the wished ARIS objects to a table by keyboard, add your descriptions and attributes, and the related model will be created simultaneously and method-conform.

This method simplifies and speeds up the initial creation of process diagrams. It supports for example process experts in an interview situation with subject matter experts or in a workshop context.

Table-based modeling is available as soon as a new diagram is created and modeling started, then at any stage in your iterative modeling approach. While entering model data, objects are created and automatically put into layout. Based on the ARIS conventions follower objects and connections are even proposed and set automatically.

Start with the creation of a new model. Enter model name and model type.

Instead of pulling the objects with your mouse to the modeling canvas, you can go to the bottom area and insert your first object by clicking the plus icon or using the insert button of your keyboard.

Choose your first object and click the enter button of your keyboard. You can add further symbols by clicking the plus icon or the insert button.

Enter your description and other attributes in the table row.

Table-based modeling works for all EPC and BPMN process models including lane and pools, regardless of complexity. You can switch from the table to the model and vice versa at any time. It enables inline formatting for font size, color, or style. It’s easy to use and navigate, and adds value to all user groups, from beginners to experts.

One question. We create a model with using system and other satellite object as occurrence copy. Can that be handled in table base modelling.

Thanks,

Kuldeep

Hi Kuldeep,

as far as I know occurrence copies can be handled in table base modeling.

Hi Sheela,

as far as I know you can add XOR (etc.) and gateways in EPC and BPMN models. You can also create splits. Only the join must be create in the model itself.

Eva
