Hello community,

I have a problem with the connection after installation of the ARIS Business Server 7.1.

I installed the business server successfully, started it, the server is running and now I want to connect with my ARIS Toolset 7.0.2 (which is installed on the same pc where the business server is running, so no firewall problems). I configured the connection with the server name (I tried also the IP) and Toolset cant connect, because the server is not available: connection to CORBA Nameservice could not be established. Please assure the the ARIS Site Manager is started. (29-0) This is the error message.

1st question: What can be the reason for the connection problems? Maybe the different versions of Toolset and business server?

2nd question: What is the ARIS Site Manager? I thought it represents internal services of the business server and is automatically started with starting the server, becaus it exists no executable explicitly for the site manager. Is this assumption correct?

I hope somebody could help me!

Thanks in advance and regards,

Frank

Hello Frank!

1) Yes you cannot connect with a 7.02 Client to a 7.1 Server!

2) I assume you installed the standard server. Then all services are within one process.

But in a more complex szenario you can also distribute the services. In that case you have one Site Manager and serveral Business Servers.

Regards

Oliver

Thx for your answers, Oliver!

So I assume there is no way to connect via Toolset 7.0.x with a business server 7.1.x?

Is this the same procedure when using the Business Architect or Business Designer in a version 7.0.x and connecting a 7.1 server?

And whats vice versa: if I have a 7.1 client and want to connect to a 7.0.x server?

Many questions ;)  hopefully you can help!

Thanks again and regards,

Frank

Hello Frank!

It is always the case that you cannot connect with a client to a server of different major versions of ARIS. and vice versa. In addition of that it makes no difference what kind of ARIS client you are using.

Oliver
