Hi,
Could somebody please help? My colleague created a set of models in Aris Express. Opening them lateron seems not possible. The models are saved as .adf, so no problem there. But if she browses through the folder to open a model, the models are only visible when selecting "File type" = "all files".
Selecting the model then, in the box "File name", "ShellFolder" is visible...
When trying to open it, of course an error message appears telling me that ShellFolder does not exist...
Is this a known problem/bug? Anyone has experienced this before?
Hi,
actually we never heard something about such a behavior before. Is it possible, that something has been changed on your colleague's computer regarding the Windows registry or file type association?
What happens, if your colleague just double clicks a model in the Windows Explorer?
Bye,
Frank
Hi Frank,
Sorry for my late answer, was a couple of days off.
No, nothing changed on her computer in the meanwhile... The weird thing is that the problem occurred "occasionally" last week; she created several models and some of them were OK, others weren't!
In the Windows Explorer, you do not see any difference between good and bad files at first sight; they are all categorised as "ADF files" in the list. When trying to open an erroneous file through the Windows Explorer, nothing happens (nothing opens, no error message). When giving a right click on one of those files, you only get a restricted list of possible actions:
- open
- open with...
- scan for threats
- send to...
While "normal" ADF files give the same options plus:
- cut
- copy
- create shortcut
- delete
- rename
- properties
In other words, the erroneous files are unmanageable. Not even possible to delete them.
Thanks in advance for your help.
