Hello,
We are using Solman Ehp1 stack 25 and ARIS for SAP 7.10 with release 2009_03 We are working with Solution Manager and ARIS and doing synch between those two tools. We found an error when we performed a sync from ARIS to Solman. All the new objects in Solman (Scenario, Processes and Steps) that were added in Solution Manager that have not been sync to ARIS yet, are deleted from SolMan. We found this behaviour incorrect and very dangerous since affect the whole projectThanks for your help!

Hi Guadalupe,
Thanks for providing the version of ARIS and SolMan. We are using ARIS7.1 SR5 and SAP Solution Manager version 7 enhancement pack 26.
We also sync ARIS with SolMan (both directions). It sounds like you have already added Scenarios, Processes and Process Steps (or structure) in SolMan that currently don't exist in ARIS? If this is true, first you will need to bring that structure from SolMan into ARIS. You can accomplish this by having a SolMan project that has structure that is not currently in ARIS. Then run a sync over the entire project with the following settings:
1. Select project options
2. Transfer structural elements
3. Transfer transactions
4. Delete items
5. Transfer assignments
Also, in ARIS, remember to go to View > Options and under SAP Options, setup your sync settings how you prefer.
This will, at the very least, get the structure from SolMan into ARIS and onto VACDs, EPCs, FADs, etc, so it will not get deleted the next time you sync. After this initial sync, and after you start designing in ARIS (ie: add an activity (function or process step) to an EPC), you can reverse the direction of the sync (ARIS to SolMan) and keep the same settings listed above. This will make ARIS your system of record for structure, which is how we are using ARIS in our project.
When we first started to sync ARIS and SolMan a couple of years ago, we had many problems like this one and didn't know how our sync strategy would mature. There is some flexibility in how you want to use this feature, like syncing certain doc types from SolMan and which system should own the structure aspect too.
Hopefully this helps and let me know if you have any further issues or questions.
