I was trying to find a spell checking functionality in ARIS, but did not succeed. Is it there?
Is there a way to run a spell checking procedure in ARIS?
Thank you!
Hi!
There are no any ABA internal tools to check spelling, but you can use two nice scripts:
- translation_out – this script creates Excel file with attributes
- then check spelling in Excel
- then with script translation_in you can import all changed attributes.
This is very simple and quick approach.
Hi Alexander,
Thanks for your reply. From what you say it sounds like an option. But I was looking for a script you named in the list of scripts (reports) in ARIS and could not find it.
Or did you mean something else?
Could you please give more details on what needs to be done to achieve this?
Thank you,
Hanna
Hi!
To export attribute you should select group (e.g. Main group) and then execute report command.
In opened window you can find report ‘Export attribute values for translation’ – this script creates Excel file. After spell checking in Excel you should select ARIS DATABASE and then to find script ‘Import translated attributes’.
Both of scripts are standard and work perfect.
p.s. If you are Russian speak it would be more convenient to me to explain this moments.
Regards, Alexander
Hi Alexander,
I made a testing run according to your description and it seems to work perfectly fine. Thanks for this information, you solved one of the annoying problems we had.
p.s. I do speak Russian, but your explanation is clear in English as well :). Moreover now more people will be able to use it. Thanks again!
Добрый день!
Не за что!
По остальным проблемам, которые Вы публиковали, мы с некоторыми тоже сталкивались - действительно частичным решением проблемы может быть обновление версии до 7.1.0.423484, IDS утверждает, что это последняя устойчиво работающая версия, однако проблемы в ней тоже есть
Hi,
I have downloaded the required model from ARIS using the report option using "Export of Attributes". I then had the local copy of it on my desktop and did the spell check manually using ARIS. I have done all the required corrections.
I now need your help to import the model back..so that all the corrections reflect there on..??
Pl. suggest..
..
Lets go step-by-step:
1. You have downloaded the required model from ARIS using the report Export attribute values for translation’, am I right?
2. Did you checked spell and save Excel file?
If yes then you should select database in ARIS and execute report ‘Import translated attributes’ for database. During executing there will be dialog where you can find your Excel file to update attributes.
Hi,
Lets go step by step:
1) chose the model
2) Select into "Evaluate option"
3) Choose start report option
4) From the drop down select "Export of attributes"
5) Click finished and went on save the data in excle format.
6) After downloading..did the spell check manually.
Problem is when i go to report again..there isn't any option which would allow me the option of uploading the particular excel sheet...
i tried all option..availlable under report wizard but none offers the option or dialogue box to upload any file.
I am going wrong somewhere here.
kindly help.
With following procedure can be checked spelling in an ARIS database: ARIS: - backup database ( database context menu - properties - tab administration ) - select group of which the content has to be checked (subgroups are considered also) - group context menu - Evaluate - Report - select report Translation_Out.rsg - next assistant step: select output format Excel - finish - set options ( e.g. Origin language: "English (USA)", target language: " English (USA)" - open created Excel file Excel: - check there the spelling with Excel spelling check functionality correct wrong texts in column "Attribute value (source language)" - save the Excel table ARIS: - database context menu - evaluate - report - Select report Translation_In.rsd - Next assistant step: set the standard settings - Finish - Select Excel-Import file - Select target database language ( e.g. English (USA)) - Ready !
