Hi,
How to import the complete configuration to Aris 10? 7.2 configuration contains user defined elements (derivated model, , user defined symbol, user defined attributes....) and when I try to import it in my new Aris version, I cannot see all symbols in the Method of Aris 10.
Secondly, I would like to move the user defined symbol aris 7.2 configuration to standard symbol aris 10. It's possible?

Hi,
i found this info related to your request.
The 'backupconfig' and 'restoreconfig' commands are no longer supported in ARIS 9/10. Therefore it's not possible to restore a .acb backup from a complete ARIS 7.1/7.2 configuration.
user-defined attributes for a group or database
If you use user-defined attributes and these are only used for a group these are not transferred to the new ARIS configuration.
The reason for this is the fact that you can't filter attributes for a group.
Workaround: create a specific filter where these attributes are assigned to a model which can have attributes in the filter, in order to transfer these to the new environment.
Luckily the data is available through the restore although the attributes are not available, they will appear as soon as the attributes have been created.
ARIS 7:
- create a filter with all user defined elements (user defined symbols, attribute types, derived model types...)
If you want to migrate user defined attribute type groups, you have to activate at least one attribute in such a group in the filter.
- Export this new filter and all other user defined filter (each filter single)
- Export all user defined templates
ARIS 9:
- Import all filter and template files
All user defined symbols in that filters and templates are now in ARIS 9

There is one more catch: When you have imported your Filter to ARIS 10 you need to do a little bit more: In ARIS 7.2, when you created a user-defined attribute type, it was available for use on all model types, object types and connection types in the Entire Method (and consequently available for use in the method filters). Since ARIS 9 you first have to modify the ARIS Method and specify for each model type, object type and connection type which custom attributes you want to be available. Only then you can use these attributes in the method filter.
Hi Patrik
Does this also work with a templete?
The tenant I am working in has many derived items (eg 200+ symbols) but I do not know where they came from. I do not think there is an imported filter which has brought them into the tenant. However, there is a Template which refers to alll of the derived symbols.
Thanks.
