The message "An optional update is availavble" message pops up each time I start ARIS Express. The java settings seems to be ok. What could cause this? Thanks Piet . T .
Hi,
your settings seem to be okay.
It might be, since the Java cache is limited, some parts of Express are removed if other applications are used also, so it is necessary to reload those parts.
The last screenshot you've shown in your document shows the path, where the Java cache is located. Could you check the size of this folder? I might be that it is more than one gigabyte.
If yes, just deleted this folder (first by the Java panel and later on manually, because the Java panel sometimes does not delete everything) and afterwards use the download-link.
Does that work?
Bye,
Frank
Thanks Frank,
I followed your suggestions and deleted the folder, although it did not reach the one gigabyte size.
After re-installing Aris Express, the system started properly the first time, but after that he still wants to download the update. What am I missing?
Regards, Piet
Hi both,
did you get a resolution to this problem as I am getting the exact same issue. If I select details on the error message box, I can see the following exception details:

Hi Marc.
Please have a look at this post. We have the problem from time to time, but it is always the case, that the user's proxy does not allow to connect to the community.
Please make sure, that:
- you use a JRE newer or equal then 1.6.0_10
- Your proxy allows the JRE to connect to the Community.
You could also try to set "direct internet connection" in the Java panel.
Bye,
Frank
