Dear Community,
I'm a business analyst in the insurance industry on a RPA project. We are insterested in technologies such as Aris to help us get better and faster insights in our process discovery phase through automated business process discovery (ABPD) technology it offers.
However, I did not see the eventual impact such method could have on the employees beeing monitored.
Hence the following questions for those of you experienced with ABPD:
- What was the reaction of the employees when you said you would use ABPD and so track their activities ? How did you manage it ?
- What are your lessons learned ? What are the main pitfalls to avoid ?
- Any other feedback on this matter ?
Thank you !
Jerome.
Hello Jerome,
I would recommend to involve any works council as early and openly as possible in order to mitigate employee surveillance concerns. The later you do it, the stronger their suspicion may be. Transparency is key.
Very likely you can design your ABPD effort in such a way that you do not need to identify individuals or that the data gets pseudonymized before anyone gets to see the results. After all you should convey the idea that you are not interested in measuring the performance of individuals, but of the entire process. Also consider GDPR concerns regarding PII. You will also have to involve the data protection officer who may also be able to support you in taking appropriate measures to keep the creation of PII to an absolute minimum. Anyway he needs to know about your ABPD effort because you want to use PII in a way so far not covered by any permissions.
