When I start ARIS Express 2.4a I get a Java 'error' message (attached) which indicates that the application will be blocked in a future Java security update. Is this a known issue?

do you use Windows as OS? You should switch to the windows executable version then.
About the message: this is exactly, why we brought out Express 2.4a (read more):
By the way: there is still a dialog shown, that Express will be blocked in a future release of the java runtime environment. You can ignore that. Even if you pull the java security settings to the maximum, the new version will be started.
