Dear all

after installing ARIS 9.5 client (Architect/Designer) with the system / manager, I received this message "User 'system' has no license for using: ARIS Designer or ARIS Architect."

anyone can help please

During the installation the license key was entered, after that ARIS didn't request the license key. 

If we want to enter another license key, where we can do that??

Hi,

in ARIS 9.x, you cannot change a license key on the architect/designer. Licenses are handled centrally in the central user management on the server.

Or are you refering to the "LOCAL" server?

I have exactly the same error when I installed ARIS 9.5 client with local database. I have not installed ARIS Designer because I would like to use only ARIS Architect in my laptop. How can I overcome this problem?

Thanks a lot for this information, actually I want to use the ARIS 9.5 Architect on my laptop locally. 

I followed the exact instructions in the "ARIS Client Installation Guide" then when I trying to run ARIS Architect with user "system" and password "manager" I got this message "User 'system' has no license for using: ARIS Designer or ARIS Architect."

Please anyone has an idea about this issue.

I have exactly the same problem that Khalil. I have assigned in the local instalation the ZIP licenses file and when I run i get the same error message. 

 

@Khalil: did you managed to solve this issue?

I had the same problem but managed to work around it by re-installing ARIS client on a path without spaces e.g. c:\SoftwareAG\ARIS9.5. I'm not sure if it's the same bug (we might have different OS etc.) but give it a try and it might work for you as well.

No, it still does not work properly. Even using the last 9.5 b (840516) version and after the maintenance of the Download Center (done yesterday, therefore I downloaded again the package today, hoping that the bug is solved) - the issue with the system user of the LOCAL DB of ARIS Architect continues to appear and ARIS9 cannot be used separately.

I tried the workaround provided by @Dean, but it did not change the situation for me.

Any other ideas?

Dear Trifon,

1) Did you check %TEMP%\ARIS_Install.log for any errors after the ARIS Client setup has been finished?

2) Did you get a license key as ZIP file containing XML files?

Maybe the keys were not processed properly by the setup.

3) Is the Windows service "ARIS LOCAL 9.0" installed and started?

I installed ARIS Client 9.5b incl. LOCAL and had no issues. And I installed in folder "C:\Program Files\ARIS9.5" on Windows 7. Before I started ARIS Architect + LOCAL there free 1.6 GB RAM in use and after startup it was 3.5 GB RAM.

Here's my ARIS_Install.log. So you can compare it.

Dear Rune,

thank you very much for your detailed response. I am glad to say now that finally I succeeded to log in with the system user, changing just one simple thing in the installation process. Our licenses were provided as xml files and during my first installation attempts I have imported them as xml-s, which probably leaded to the login failures, although the installations were successful. Then following your post - I just zipped the xml file and during the new installation I have used this new created zip, instead the xml file. I could not say for sure if this was the reason (at least - I cannot say why) - but it is a fact that afterwards the system user login in my ARIS 9 LOCAL works just perfect.

Not sure if this is the right thread to post my problem in... but I think its related.

I just installed 9.5b with a LOCAL server, but i cannot get the database started.

After I start ARIS, enter the first time login 'system' and 'manager' credentials, the system eventually responses with an error, "server 'LOCAL' cannot be started"

Now, I also selected a .xml license key during the installation process instead of a .zip.  I'm not sure if that could be the problem or not since, I'm getting a different error message.  Needless to say though, I'm not getting anyway at the moment.

Before I go my hunch and just uninstall and re-install all over again hoping to fix it, I wonder if anyone has any other solutions.  Anyway to check if my license is correctly recognized?  Or is my problem completely unrelated to this license issue?

Dear Eric,

If you have received your ARIS license keys as ZIP file with several XML files, then it should be OK. In doubt, send it to Global Support ARIS and let them verify it.

Did you check %TEMP%\ARIS_Install.log after the setup has completed? Just to be sure that installation was done properly.

As Windows Service you should find "ARIS LOCAL 9.0" and started.

Then check the log files of ARIS Architect in folder %UserProfile%ARIS90\log and the log files of LOCALSERVER, e.g. in C:\ARIS9\LOCALSERVER\logs, particularly ARISCloudAgent.log. Something must have failed during startup.

Dear all,

I'll keep this post in the current thread as it is still about license issues in A9. What I mean - trying to make a xml import in ARIS9 (LOCAL installation of Architect) we get a message that the current license does not allow XML import and extended one should be used instead (from our point of view such a restriction is a little bit strange as finally the XML import/export is supposed to be a normal option to be used in the daily work, but however this is not the aim of the comment). My question then is: where the currently installed license could be replaced with another one for a LOCAL Architect installation?

I took a look in the config files within the ARIS9 folder, also reviewed all options in the tool itself, but unfortunately I had no success to find it.

It's always risky to open a new discussion within an existing one, even on a related topic.

I guess in your case it's a question whether a specific function is enabled in your license key for ARIS Architect + LOCAL, while Eric's issue was about installing LOCAL.

Hello everyone!

I have the same problem like Khalil alkiswani. I installed the last two release of  ARIS 9.7 (client with local database) over 12 times. I was removing, modifying or reinstalling, moving installation folder to local disk D,I entered license key as XML and the other time I tried with zip, checked all recommendation that Rune Becker has written, but the result remains the same ( message "User 'system' has no license for using: ARIS Designer or ARIS Architect.") . I tried everything that come to my mind, but nothing did work.

So I decided to write here and ask for help. What I can do more to make ARIS Local work?
