Hello,
I just discovered that collapsed event sub-processes with the start event as marker in the upper left corner of the shape are not supported by ARIS Advanced but by ARIS Express. Is this a bug or is there any functionality in the user interface I did not find?

Yes it is supported. When you model the sub-process it will have a start event with a marker. As soon as you have modelled that, the event will show up on the collapsed sub-process.
Before you have modelled the start event of the sub-process it is unknown, what type of event shall be used as the marker.
