Hi,

Is anyone aware of a report in ARIS, which can be run across the database to tidy object names? I want to be able to run a report across the database or specific groups or models, which correct things such as, title case, trailing spaces etc.

Any advice or shares of best practice appreciated.

Thanks,

Leanne

Hi,

you mean as in consolidating objects with identical names? Or you mean just any object?

If you are looking for a consolidation report, you could use the "consolidate report" which you can start on main group level.

If you mean "any object" I tend to use the Export attributes for translation report. That creates an Excel file where I can do some spelling checks with the Spell-Checker of Excel. You could then also copy the column and paste it into an IA tool and add some prompts that do the magic that you need. You could then copy the results back into the original Excel and import it.

Best,

Veronika

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I was hoping for a report that had the ability to run across the database & correct the objects based on the conditions (e.g. title case), rather than having to run a export & then manually tidy the names.

Thanks,

Leanne

Hi,

It depends on what is necessary. Veronika is right regarding export. That is the way to mass update your attributes. For a similar case, I prefer to use AI formulas in a Google table, where you can compose the prompt / command what you want to do with your text. For example, you can use the prompt "Capitalise all the first letters in a sentence", and then after fixing, import all your attributes with "Import translated attributes".

Hello Leanne,

the other standard report that might help is Replace text attributes of groups, models, objects, and relationships. You cannot use regular expressions (placeholders) or conditions like Alexander mentioned, but it helped us to align or change fixed terms like a role name in one go, which occurs in several contexts as an object name, model or task description.

Regards, Martin
