Hello all,

Does anybody know how to change the place of the assignement symbol in ARIS 9? We would like to place it like in Aris 7 down right not up left as it is now in 9.

Thank you in advance
Lubo

Dear Lubo,

as far as I know there is no option to change the placement of the assignment icon.

Best regards,

Eva

Hello Lubo,

as far as i understand, the placement of the assignment icon is a property of the symbol it belongs to. When you open Symbol Editor in ARIS 9.7 and edit your icon, there is an option on the "Start" ribbon, which is called "Assignment icon position" and gives you the options "Top left" and "Bottom right".

So to achieve a change in position of the assignment icon you would have to define custom symbols for everything -> with impact on your filters and templates. Nothing you would do for fun. In ARIS 7.2 you would have had the chance to tweak the default symbols in the server installation, but I think in ARIS 9 they are not located in the file system, but in the system DB (this is just a guess, not knowledge).

Hello Lubo,

so you are actually editing the standard symbols? I did not expect, this would be worth the hassle - unless you have your derived symbols for everything anyway. In this case you just have to exchange the graphics of the symbol with a different amf file.

If you have used standard symbols so far, keep in mind that you have to change your filters and templates to use your derived symbols and all the models you already have would have to be migrated to your new symbols. The placement of the assignment symbol must be of great value to you, if you want to take on this effort.

Regards,

Hi M. Zschuckelt,

Yes all the efforts for this are not worth it, so we gave up the idea. We "played" a lot but at the end it is useless excercise to do. We had also problems later on with the publishing that models in the Publisher, so the troubles and changes are too much just for one vizualization. But nevertheless I am very thankful for your advices :)

The following method works for ARIS 9.8.1.  I have not verified on older version of ARIS 9.

This can be done on a global basis for a database via Logo Management.  By right clicking on a database, selelcting Properties, then Logo Management, you can change the assignment icon.  Select the Assignment radio button then select New...  Choose a .amf file for the graphic and then select OK.  When doing it this way, the assignment icon will now default to appearing next the lower right hand corner of your objects as they were in ARIS 7.

Symbol Number 405 - ARIS V7 assignment icon.  This one you can get from the symbol editor or you can find it on your ARIS software distribution in the Content\AMF folder.

Symbol Number 1666 ARIS V9 assignment icon.  This one you can get from the symbol editor.  I did not see this one in the Content\AMF folder.

Hello John.

I am using ARIS 9.7. After changing the assignment icon to a custom one it worked on ARIS Architect but did not work on Publisher after publishing the processes. Are you facing the same behavior? Is there any step missing or can I consider it a bug?

Thanks in advance.
