Is it possible to assign KPIs directly in a BPMN diagram without a FAD?

Hello Frau Grasser,
see chapter 7.2 of the BPMN specification what is in scope and out of scope of BPMN modelling. Information modelling is out of scope. There is no notation for KPIs in BPMN.
If you want to model processes with all those nice resources linked to them the BPMN notation might not have been the optimal choice. You could go for modelling your processes in EPC. There you have the choice to model the resources directly in the process or hide them in an FAD. You can even use the Show/Hide feature (in the rich client only) to move these resources between FAD and process model.
There may be other motivations for the choice of BPMN that you have taken.
