Hello Community

Is it possible in Aris (Enterprise) to define custom  multi-valued attributes ?

For example, let's say I want to define an attribute "distribution channel" that may take one or more values among : mail, e-mail, phone. The idea would then be to use checkboxes to define the values taken.

This would be much cleaner than to use multiple boolean attributes (distribution channel mail : true/false, distribution channel phone : true/false, etc)

Thanks !

Hello Michel

You can define your own attributes with multivalues but it is only display as drop down menu. It is not possible to do a multivalues with radio button. Alternative is to use boolean attributes, but then you have to defined multiple attributes

Hello Michel,

I think with SR14 you could organize your attributes in sections, so you could group multiple checkbox attributes logically. (I haven't tried it, yet.)

I have by default taken over the Administration of our Aris (9.8 looking at upgrade to 10.14 :-) ). Anyway we have some existing custom multi-valued attributes.

My question along those lines would be how do I remove a value or values from the configuration of that multi-value attribute?

Sorry Michel, don't mean to hijack you question/post. Hope you have your answer. My question just seemed to fit so naturally here.

Hello Michael,

To remove value of an attribute is easy, you can go into Method (Administration), Attribute types, select your attribute and edit. In the tab Values and Symbols, select one value and click remove.

This will remove the value, be careful as if the value is set in some objects, it will also be removed and I cannot tell you to wich value ... So you can use a script or attribute wizard to change the value to another one before deleting.

Using the advanced search in Architect can help you find out all values in use for this attribute.

Cheers

Thank you for the quick response Tanguy. I have attached a print-screen of exactly what you describe which I have actually tried before and there is No Option to "Remove" a value. Hence why my question. Sorry I should have explained that I had tried this before.

In fact I can't even move the values Up or Down in the sequence.

Any other thoughts on how to remove an attribute drop-down value are most welcome.

Thanks.
