In the EPC model (higher level) I have a function which is needed to be explain in more detailed steps. In this case is it correct to create another EPC model (lower level) as an assigment on the Function?

In this case what object is using as a start and end point, considering that when the process in EPC - lower level is finished, than it countinues to the next function of EPC higher process.

Thank you in advance for your answer.

You use an occurrence copy of the event preceding the step as start event and an occurrence copy of your subsequent event will be the ending event of the detail process. They should match. If your detail process turns out to have more results it means you have alternative outcomes, which should be reflected in the superior EPC with a subsequent XOR-Rule and the alternative end events of the detail process.

If the preceding or subsequent process steps are also detailed further you could even depict them in the detail processes with process interfaces, so you can even navigate the detail process level. (Rather theory than practice.)

Recommendation: Define the granularity for each level well. Suggestion: superior EPC level always has a change of responsibility, place or time from one step to the next. On the detail level show steps of a work instruction for a role performing in a single process step.
