What are the steps to become certified in ARIS? What is the best way to prepare for the exam?
1. Have at least half a year experience in an administrative role of ARIS (not just modelling).
2. In exam preparation take the book from the course "Advanced Business Process Modelling and Administration with ARIS" to recap the topics you have not applied (so much) in your practice.
3. Take the exam.

this is not the book I intended. It was published in 2008 and ARIS has changed a lot on the surface and technical architecture. I am positive the methodical recommendations in the book are still valid (I admit I have not read it), but the tool itself has changed a lot since those days. No, I was assuming you have taken the course Advanced Business Process Modelling and Administration with ARIS, which teaches broadly about all the features and administrative features of ARIS Architect, User Management Console and ARIS Connect. I referred to the Participant Guide you receive with this course.
