Hello,

I am having problems in synchronizing shortcuts created in SolMan to ARIS. I have a project created in Solution Manager with a Business Process Hierarchy uploaded. Now I have inserted process shortcuts, creating process links in an End-to-end view in the same structure, refering the original objects in BPH, as shown in the picture. The thing is that when I synchronize this project to the database in ARIS, these objects don't show up anywhere! What am I doing wrong? Any idea?

Thanks for your help!

Hi Mariana,

the first question that comes to my mind, are you on Service pack 17 or above of Solman. since shortcuts are not supported by previous SPs. if it is SP17 or above, what is your current ARIS version?

BR,

Shayam

Dear Shayam,

Thanks for your reply! I am not sure about the Service Pack, but the shortcuts are there in SolMan. I'll get to know that and inform you. About the Aris version, I am working with Aris 7.1...

Dear Mr. Shayman,

We are on Service Pack 21 of SolMan, which is the most recent... I found out in the web many references about the synchronization of shortcuts from Aris to SolMan, but anything about the other way around. I am sure it is supposed to be the same way, but it is still not working...

Hi Mariana,

I'll give you what I think to be true about SAP shortcut symbols in ARIS. Please bear in mind though that the only difference between a car salesman and a software salesman is that the car salesman actually knows when he's lying :-)

First, I believe the "shortcuts" are only intended to be synchronized from ARIS to Solman. The purpose for the shortcut symbol is as follows:

If you attempt to synchronize from ARIS to Solman and you have a function object that occurs on more than one model, an error occurs. (e.g., you can have an SAP function symbol on one model but, all other occurrences of this object must have a decsion made about them).

There are two choices you can make.

1. You can change the other occurrences to a "shadow" SAP symbol in ARIS. When you choose this option, after you synchronize from ARIS to SolMan this object is ignored by the synchronization process. The negative is that this object then only shows in one location in the SolMan BPH after synchronizing. The positive is that it helps to control configuration in the IMG such that there is only one spot to configure.

2. You can change the other occurrence to the "shortcut" symbol in ARIS. When you choose this option, after you synchronize from ARIS to Solman the object is included in the synchronization and a "shortcut" is shown in the SolMan BPH. I don't think there is a negative to this approach. What then happens in the SolMan BPH is that, for example in the SOLAR01 (Blueprint), when this shortcut node is selected in the BPH, all options for this node (i.e. all the tabs in the right hand side of the SolMan screen such as Transaction, Project Documentation, General Documentation, Development, etc.) are "grayed out." Instead, there is a "link" from the "shortcut" to the "master" object in the BPH. (When you select the "link," you are taken automatically to the "master" object in the SolMan BPH.)

We at Goodyear have decided on this second approach so as not to lose visibility of the fact (in SolMan) that this object occurs on more than one model ( and is thus reflected accordingly in the SolMan BPH).

Hopefully this is helpful (and I do apologze if these are things which you already kniow).

Best Regards,

Bob

Guys,

Thank you very much for everyone's help. The thing is that I didn't look up for the basics... Mr. Sascha Ding nailed it. My big mistake was I didn't enable the "Use shortcuts" option inside Aris options... I feel so stupid! Now everything is working just fine. Thanks again to everyone. I hope I can be helpful in problems not so simple than that ;-)

Best regards,

Mariana

Hello,

We synchronize ARIS into Solution Manager for a long time (ARIS Version 7.02)

A Migration for ARIS 7.1 will be done next week.

But now we have a problem:

" title>The synchronization fails with the error message: "UNSUPPORTED NODE TYPE"

" title>Does it have anything to do with the new Solution Manager version?

" title>The interface was still working when we had the SolMan Version:

" title>Lev.-version: 0017

Support Package-verse. SAPKITL427

" title>Today we have the version:

" title>Lev.-version: 0023

Support Package-verse. SAPKITL433

Can someone help me?

Esen,

At what point of the synchronization this error occurs?

After the Systemlandscape synchronized:

Charge: entry level 'RBP SAP Template - Version 1.0'

Sync: SystemLandscape

Create Systemlandscape 'Z_CRM'

Delete: Systemlandscape 'Z_SAP_CRM_2007'

Synchronize: entry level 'RBP SAP Template - Version 1.0'

Charge: Scenario Leadership '01 '

Displacement: Scenario 'Leadership'

Error when accessing the SAP system for the element 'entry-RBP SAP Template - Version 1.0'. The synchronization of the derived elements is terminated.

The error message is: 'UNSUPPORTED_NODE_TYPE'

Hello!

I did synchronization of Aris 7.2 with Solman 7.1 some years ago. At the time I used SAP shortcuts symbol  for steps that had more than one occurences. And it all working great during synchronization process.

Now I am trying to do the same thing for Aris 9.8 and Solman 7.2 that is using Soldoc, and it seems that SAP shortcut symbols for steps are no longer working as I keep getting error that a step with the same SAP ID can not be synchronized. Can anyone confirm that shortcut symbols no longer wotk in these versions of Aris and Solman?

As of right now, the only way around this problem that I see is to make separate object definition for every occurrence of a step. But this solution is very inconvenient from the Aris architecture side. Does anyone have any other solution for this problem?

P.S. this option is activated:

View – Options -SAP Options – Solution Manager – activate Use shortcuts

Hello,

Are you reusing the same database and objects you had in the previous versions of Aris and Solman for the new ones? The thing is that once you have synchronized one object in Aris with a SolMan project and it gets its SAP ID, it cannot be synchronized with a different one, that's why you get the "same SAP ID cannot be synchronized" error. In order to synchronize your previous Aris database with a new SolMan project you have to delete all previous SAP IDs in the objects and then synchronize. I hope that will do the trick!

Best of luck, Mariana.

I’ve found answer to my question on official ARIS SAP integration presentation which says that shortcuts are no longer supported in solman 7.2

Here is the extract of that text(Document is called Migrating SAP projects to SAP® Solution Manager 7.2 solutions ):

SHORTCUTS AND OCCURRENCE COPIES
Shortcuts have been replaced by the relation between PSL elements and database elements. In ARIS occurrence copies of model objects that were considered by the former synchronization, e.g. process steps, will not be offered anymore. Now, references between objects will be in place. In ARIS, when copy and paste a SAP-related object, such a master-variant relation will be created. Of cause you are supported by a wizard.
