Hi,

We are looking for some guidance regarding other companies experiences of financial and non-financial benefits acheived when using ARIS Simulator, Process Governance and Process Performance Manager.

We are currently defining the benefits of bringing these tools into our organisation and would welcome any benefits input from companies that have done the same.

Thanks,

Megan

Megan,

I work at Lanner and we supply the simulation component integrated into ARIS Business Simulator.

There are many wide and varied benefits that companies achieve from simulation depending on exactly the business question being addressed.

Essentially its about taking risk out of change and providing evidence for selecting one option over another. You are correct that there are both financial and non-financial benefits, we examples of organisations saving money by identifying a lower cost option to that originally selected. Softer benefits come from the generation of new ideas, improved communication and understanding that can come by using the simulation approach.

If you would like to get in touch offline we can talk about your specific situation at RWE npower.

thanks

Geoff

We are beginning to use process simulation in the mortgage division of the large bank for which I work.  I definitely see the potential for significant financial benefits as very encouraging results have been obtained to date building confidence in the use of simulation to support for, among other things:

  • Business case quantification
  • Identifying dynamic response of complex processes to 'off-design' situations such as an order volume surge - in this instance a non-intuitive low-cost solution for managing those volume surges was identified (80% cost savings vs intuitive solution normally used).
  • Root-cause problem-solving support
  • Capacity management
  • Evaluation of alternative design solutions

Simulation is another tool in the toolkit, but in this case it is a quantitative, predictive tool.  As with any such tool, the quality of the data used to build the model is critical to success, and must be treated as such.

Best of luck,

Mark
