I need help to start ARIS MashZone

Hi Guys,

I will now shortly explain what my problem with ARIS MashZone is:

In first place I installed the application and started it and was able to use it.

But whenerver I close it and want to start it new, it doesn't work anymore. What am I doing wrong?

I tied to start "Start ARIS MashZone server (as application)" and than starting the application itself. Firstly I thought this works, but than MashZone is telling me that the standart user system is not existing.

What do I have to do, to start up MashZone again, without having to reinstall it.

I would be grateful for your help.

I would also appriciate an answer to this topic. I have the same issue, that the standard user and password are not working. The error message is the following:

"This combination of user and password does not exist." (system, manager)

Only solution so far was to install Mash Zone 2.0 again. Meanwhile I have installed Mash Zone the 25th time ;)

Hello,

the feedback message "This combination of user and password does not exist." (system, manager)" is quite confusing at this point.

Usually the reason is that the internal database could not be requested due to the fact an earlier started mashzone process is already running against it, perhaps the prevoius instance was not shut down completely. So please check if there is a suspect java thread running on your machine which might be responsible for that.

This fact will be also documented in the "MashZone.log" file which can be found in the following directory of your installation [installation root]/system/tomcat/logs.

If you are in doubt please post the logfile here, so i can have a look into it.

Thank you for your fast reply.

As I was looking into all processes which are running in the background, no java thread was running.

I found the log file and opened it but the suspicious thing is: it is empty. The file "MashZone.log" is empty. So I don't know what to do.

are there any filled logfiles in this directory?

If not so, would you please be that kind to take a look into the ARIS_MashZone_InstallLog.log file that can be found in the directory [installation root]/system/logs.

Perhaps something went already wrong during the installation process.

Some other questions:

Which windows version are you running and what is the mashzone installation directory?

Do you have full access rights to your system or are there some restrictions?

Hi,

yes, there are files in this directory. But most of them are empty and in a few there is something written.

I now checked the InstallationLog: There it is written that everything was succsessful and no errors occured. Therefore I think istalation should be OK.

I have Windows 7 (64-Bit) and my collegue, which also have this problem has Windows Vista (32-Bit).

We are not able to run MashZone again without reinstalling it.

Hello,

as i can see in your profil, you are working for a banking house. From my expierence with banks and insurence companies, i know there are often some weird inhouse it security guidelines and restrictions. Due to the fact that you and your colleque are reporting the same problem, it is possible that your windows systems are monitored by a restrictive firewall or antivirus software that prevent mashzone to start after you reboot your windows system?

What if you install mashzone in an alternative directory on a partion divers c:/ apart from your windows system structure, lets say e.g. d:/temp/foobar?

No, the App is not installed on a PC of our company. It's installed on private PCs. Therefore no watchment or whatever should take place.

I will try to install it into another directory. Maybe it works than.

But as it is a private PC, I don't think, that this should be the problem.

I had the similar problem.

After the installation everything was running ok for me but when I restarted computer it was not and I couldn't start it again. I've got the same error message. I have Windows Vista.

I resolved it this way:

Check in Task manager in Services tab if MASHZONE process is running. I believe it's not.

I had to go to Services (click on Services button in Task manager in Services tab). Look for service 'Software AG MashZone'. I hope it will not be in running state(Started). Right click on it. change Startup type to Automatic. Click OK. Then click on Start button on the top of the window (service must be still highlighted). Now whenever you restart your computer you will be able to start MashZone without any problems.

Hello,

you have to distinguish if you are running MashZone as a service or as an application. You can't do both at the same time. This will result in the exception discussed above.
