Install ARIS thick client

Hi,

if you downloaded a JAR file from the download page of the server, you are using the "downlod client". The jar is a download manager that cares about downloading e.g. the ARIS Architect from the Business Server, and starts it afterwards.

Normally, if you correctly installed the JRE on your machine, just by double clicking the JAR file, it will start with download of ARIS architect.

If that does not happen, the JRE is not installed correctly (file type assignment is missing).

There is another way to install the ARIS rich client, by a setup on your local machine. You can downlod the rich client setup from the ARIS download site.

Side note: The latter might have the nasty side effect, that the version of the client does not match that of the server. Instead of downloading from the site, you should use the same installation media as for the server installation. The safest bet is always the download manager, which will always check, that the installed version matches the server version or otherwise install the correct version from the server.
