Hi,

My problem is: when Aris generates report in Word output format, the result file sometimes has a very big dimension, but if one saves the file with a new name (using Save as word command), the file dimension will be reduced drammatically.

This is a problem for a customer of mine, because he needs to generate a custom Process Manual with a great lot of data, so the result file is too big to open and rename it.

Does anyone know if it is possible to solve this problem?

Hello,

I'm also interested by answers.

edit : is your extension file .rtf ?

you should use the .doc to have light files.

Hello Vincent.

As the report is extracted from Aris, the file system's extension is ".doc", but when I'm going to rename it with Save as command, I can see that the previous extension was ".rtf". Even if the script output format is set to "Word".

Hi guys,

This is a known effect. Even though the extension is .doc, the actual document is RTF format. When you save as, it saves it as an actual Word doc and reduces the size. If it is a custom script, you can add the line below and your output will be actual Word format.

Context.setProperty("use-new-output", true);

Hope this helps.

Hi Francois,

thanks for your answer. I have just tested my custom script after adding Context.setProperty("use-new-output", true); instruction, but the result was the same. Perhaps I didn't understand where I have to add it whithin script's code:

  1. Before/ after setting new output by Context.createOutputObject();
  2. Before/ after writing the output to the file, by p_output.WriteReport()
  3. ...

Hello,

Thank you for your answer françois. It works.

Maggiu, just add the 2 following in first line of your script :

-------------------

Context.setProperty("use-new-output", true)

Context.setSelectedFile("test.doc")

-------------------

It should be before the line

oOutput.WriteReport()
