Hi
We are a new SAP customer implementing SAP, As part of this implementation we are planning to leverage Aris BPM to define/tune bussiness processes.
I am a SAP Basis admistrator and looking got Best practices to install/configure Aris. Some points for clarification are:
1. Do I need to install Aris in a shared environment. i.e Aris is installed on a server and users connect from thier desktops using Aris front end tools and connect to solution manager to import projects.
2. (or) Do I install Aris along with local database so that users can connect to solution manager and pull projects to local databases?
3. And Landscape diagram of how components are to be installed will help.
Thanks

Hi Naresh,
irrespective of a synchronization with the SAP Solution Manager you should use one ARIS database (no local DB), whereby you model your processes webbased. The synchronization should initiate only the responsible person, which should determine in context of a specific roll concept. In best case only one person should transfer the relevant information from ARIS and SAP – it’s better for keeping a whole overview. In regular case ordinary modeler don’t need an access to SAP Solution Manager, only if they have to start transaction, skip to SAP Solution Manager etc.
If you are downloading your project information from SAP to ARIS for first time, you will transfer also all logical components of the SAP projects, which you put as a object in the ARIS DB. You shouldn’t need a special landscape diagram.
Hope I could help
