Dear ARIS Community,

As I am in the middle to figure out all the possibilities of the software I found some restrictions currently.

I know it is possible (from video tutorials and study materials) that subprocesses can have collapsed and extended view (like in the same "window") but somehow I was not able to figure out how as my ARIS software does not provide the little + to add it when I place a subprocess field. How can I fix it? Has it something to do that I mainly work with BPNM models?

Help would be appreciated as I am very new to this software.

Thank you.

Hello,

the reason is, that the symbol initially is shown in its expanded state. So you can immediately start modelling your sub-process by placing symbols inside it. On the BPMN toolbar there is a button to collapse the sub-process. If you use that, the symbol will change to the collapsed form with the + and all content you modelled so far in the sub-process will be moved to a separate BPMN process model. From then on you can edit your sub-process only in that process model.

Hello,

Thank you for your fast response.|

I tried to create a subprocess but somehow both buttons can't be clicked on while the subprocess field is selected.

Can these functions be 'switched off' in certain cases? (like license or user status wise)

Best regards

No, the licence should not have an influence on that. BPMN modelling is standard in all licences. It might be, that you are working with a restricted method filter, which does not allow the collapsed symbol of the sub-process, but from a practical perspective this possibility is rather academic. Your method owner would have to have restricted the method intentionally in that way. Or the method owner excluded the BPMN process diagram from your method, only allowing BPMN collaboration.

Are you sure you selected the sub-process symbol when looking at the collapse button on the BPMN toolbar?
