That thread contains some key differences in a more qualified manner than my metaphor. Keep in mind the SAP integration mentioned there is a feature that needs extra licensing. If you disregard that, you get a good impression, what the difference is. Although that thread is very old, the statements are still valid.
You might also consult Google about "ARIS vs Visio" to find a lot of opinions.
