Hi,
We have recently transitioned from ARIS 7 to ARIS 9 on our servers & are now testing the new functionality. A question that I have run in to is:
How do we share read-only access to databases across different clients (who do not have access to our servers) with the new Centralized User Management?
Previously, in ARIS 7, we would create a Read Only User & then just backup the database to a CD & provide the client with the CD and the Read Only username and password so they could then import and access (read only) on their own server with their own license key. I'm at a loss as to how to keep this procedure in place considering the new Centralized User Management & license keys. Any advice is appreciated!
Thanks,
SJK
Hi,
you are right, I do not see a way to support this procedure with UMC (user management). Users are stored in UMC, where you can assign licenses and access rights as well. But as soon as you export the databases and import them on another server, the users in the UMC of the "target server" have access to the database according to the settings in this UMC...
I am not sure, but maybe, locking the models permanently would help (I need to check whether the lock stays in the database, if exported and imported again). At least "non system" users could not change the models...
Bye,
Frank
