Hi,

I have a Structuring Model where I would like to use images as 'button's that take the user to certain other assigned models.

Example: If the end-user clicks on a Christamas Tree Image, the user should land on the VACD showing L1 Christmas Tree related processes.

Context is Aris10sr2  with ARIS Connect.

Anyway to achieve this?  I do manage to insert the picture, but not make it clickable. Any workarounds?

Dear Lars,

Haven't tried it yet, but what about placing on top of your imported graphic another object which can no symbol, means it's literally invisble?

Cheers

Hi Rune, 'kind of' works, but not what I intend to achieve:

For the Start Model, I want a 'tiles' type look and feel. That is, click on a tile (an image), then jump to another model.

That is, still searching for a solution.

Instead of a model, did you try the Quick start view?

Quick start offers buttons which you can adopt in a modification set to some extend. And a configuration set offers the full set of options. That should match your need.

Thanks Rune,

I can put images on top of objects, that I then can assign to other models. That is, I achieve the image-part, but not the clickable-tiles behavior.

ARIS product management could gain some points by making a transparent object, where the entire area of the object can be made clickable and link to any model (think assignment). This could enable customers to build modern tile-based GUIs, without resorting to customizing connect: The latter is of course a possibility, but makes upgrading less easy/more error prone.

Anyway, thanks for your quick help - appreciated :-)

Hi Lars,

you could customize your ARIS Connect Home page and add tiles with your images, that are linked to the models you want to link to. I know of a customer, who put flags there to link to the process landscape of each country organization.

Best regards,

Hi M,

thanks for the advice! I understand the possibility, and may end up there. However, I think the ARIS base product could gain some points by allowing links to models (assignments) to be reachable by clicking on the entire area of an object, and not just on the default 'drill-down / follow assignment'-symbol.

Anyway, topic has been answered with too possibilities - time to close the thread. Thanks /Lars

Hi Lars,

my suggestion is based entirely on the Self-Service-Configuration capabilities. You don't need to fiddle with the XML configuration. So the upgrade path will be supported entirely and you should not have any issues that you would have to re-do your configuration when the next release comes. Your configuration will just continue to work.

I just wanted to set this straight in case you got the wrong idea here.

Another thing: If you turn off the display of the assignment symbol for your structuring model (in the model properties) you can use a double-click in the portal on the object symbol to follow the assignment. However that does not help you with your desired custom symbols.

Regards and happy holiday season,

This was interesting. :)

Now looking into this capability. While we are at it: What is the human-readable version of license YCSAW? Related to Dashboards.

Thanks for excellent advice :) /Lars

Did not check, but by the looks it would be ARIS Aware ("AW"?), the dashboard component of ARIS Connect (YCS). It works pretty much like Mashzone NG and interacts nicely with ARIS content.

And another idea: How about combining well-placed invisible symbols, that double-click-follow-assignment feature, and a nice wallpaper image for your model.

YCSAW is the product code for ARIS Aware as so called Extension Pack of ARIS Connect Server. This server-based licenses requires additional user licenses:

  • YCSDA    ARIS Connect Designer EP Aware User
  • YCSCA    ARIS Connect Viewer EP Aware Viewer

Does this help?

Cheers
