In my modeling experience I often use the "Organizational Unit" object; however, I recently came across a similar-looking object, "System Organizational Unit," that I have never used before. The description in the ARIS Method Help is not making complete sense to me and I haven't been able to find an example, so perhaps someone in the community can help.
- What is the difference between these two objects?
- Is there a good question I can ask myself to determine whether to use one or the other?
- If I create a connection between the two in an Organizational Chart model, the connection type is "depicts." How do I interpret this--which is depicting the other?
- The following graphical example from the ARIS Method Help is very useful for explaining 5 of the object types, but does not include "System Organizational Unit." Would a System Organizational Unit object be appropriate in this Organizational Chart model, and if so, where would it go?
Thank you,
Scott
Hi Scott,
the object type "system organizational unit" has been introduced long time ago (at the beginning of the 1990ies) to represent the organizational units of the SAP system.
These system organizational unist are mapped to the organizational units of a company (see connection type: depicts) in the "customizing".
Remember: The SAP reference model was available as ARIS database.

Jutta
