Frequently I receive questions about time axis in charts. Under some circumstances bars in charts seem to be really small as depicted below.
There is a good chance this is caused by the x-axis setting called "Use time axis labels".
To demystify its meaning lets assume you had a data series like this:
A series of daily measurements in which the one value (for Tuesday) is missing. This might be by intention, as every Tuesday no measurement is taken. Imagine you wanted to compare daily sales figures. Obviously weekends could be removed.
On the other hand there might be cases when it is important to learn about missing values, e.g. a sensor being defect.
Activate the option "Use time axis labels" to learn about missing values (first chart). Deactivate it in case you just want the values next to each other (second chart).
The second chart offers no clue about missing value for Tuesday as option "Use time axis labels" has been deactivated in data assignment for the x-axis.
Thanks for the GREAT information! Was this previously documented in the regular mashzone information or manuals, if so, where?
I think MZ has great features but they seem to be un(der)documented.
this closes out one of my open items about how to do something in MZ.
Good weekend
