I’m not exactly a gardening expert, so having a bunch of thriving Arum Lilies in the garden feels like a stroke of luck. They’ve found their sweet spot with the right mix of soil, sunlight, and water, and they’re just happy there. The Clivia, on the other hand, were once a delight until some building-activities forced us to move them. They’ve been sulking ever since, and despite my wishful thinking, it’s clear they’re not going to bounce back on their own. After a year of hoping, it’s time to admit defeat and find them a better spot—and maybe get some advice from my green-thumbed neighbors.
This got me thinking about business processes. Not everyone is a natural at managing processes, just like not everyone has a knack for gardening. Most people would rather enjoy the benefits of a smooth-running process without getting their hands dirty. But when something goes wrong, processes don’t just fix themselves. They need a little intervention to get everything back in sync—the activities, the people, the systems, and the data all have to line up. Knowing what needs to be done, by whom, with what tools, and which data is crucial. And if you’re not a process whiz, don’t hesitate to call in the experts. We use ARIS for many projects and ensure that we made the journey for us the the client so much easier in many ways.
