Has anyone found a way to generate a standard report (for example for an eEPC), to fill in missing attributes in the report (for example times etc.) and to re-import the updated report file so that the attributes are imported and assigned to their respective functions?
As I understand it, there are ways to achieve this, indeed one of the ARIS standard reports lets you generate an blank template file in excel, which after editing you can than import into ARIS.
I`m looking for something similar based on ARIS standard reports (mostly focussed on description of functions, time and volumes).
Any hints and advice much appreciated
Thomas
Hi Thomas,
There is a standard report called 'Export attributes for translation' (to be run on groups) that I use in Architect.
This is what I use to update texts.
A few points of attention though, when you use it:
- It seems to only export text fields, not 'drop down'-box information as such.
- I usually export it with a different target language and then change the source language locale number (e.g. 1033 for English) if I want to have the source language update. I'm not sure if the update will also work if you specify the same source and target language, because your output will only show 1 column with source language
- If you use this report, remember to also populate the fields which are not changing (with their original value). If left blank, ARIS will also show you blanks, as it assumes this is the new value :-)
- Importing the changes is done from database level, using the report 'Import translated attributes'
If there are more users with experience on updating attributes, please share!
Best regards,
Rowdy
Hi Rowdy,
thanks for the quick response. It does seem to work fine with pure text attributes, which is a first step in the right direction for me. But as you already mentioned, drop down attributes as well as any attributes that stem from a grouping are not exported. Maybe someone has a solution for that?
Anyway, thanks for the hint, it solves at least part of my issues :-)
