Since I am working in a big company network, userprofiles are located on a server.
It seems that Aris cannot deal with that fact properly since it faces heavy speed-problems and does not open .adf files..
any ideas?

Hi.
do you use the webstart installation? I guess not, since you use windows 7, as you wrote in another post.
In that case, the location of the java cache should not play any role, I think it's the server profile.

Did you check the FAQ about ARIS Express, particularaly this http://www.ariscommunity.com/aris-express/installation-faq#location?
Maybe you have the option to change the location of your Java cache.
