I am trying to export sparx systems to Aris

Hello,

I am a novice to Aris 10.0 but trying around and have gotten it almost up and running but I have trouble trying to export models/drawings (UML) from sparx systems and importing them to Aris.

As of now there is not much information other than sparx can export to xml and Aris can import xml.

I have found out sparx v.13 can export to xml (xmi 2.5.1) but when I try to import it to Aris it gives me an error:

"unable to performe import

an error occurred retrieving the required data"

not much to go on for me.

Do anyone have an working example and a how to guide?

Do Aris have an import log somewhere ? Right now no matter what I do it gives me the same error.

Did you check out the converter offered by Toolbus?

I don't know the details, but I assume you need to import XML/XMI content from Sparx Enterprise Architect into ARIS UML Designer and not ARIS Architect.

Hi Rune,

My predecessor tried toolbus with no luck. I do not know to what degree it failed.

About the ARIS UML Designer and not ARIS Architect got it started. I am trying to find the optimal setting for importing.

I have for now the objects and their connections but I am missing the diagrams.

How do I get the Diagrams imported/auto created?

currently using UML 2.5 (XMI 2.5.1) parameters in SparxEA:

Export Diagrams -> Select this checkbox to export all the diagrams in the selected Package.

Format XML Output -> Select this checkbox to format the output into readable XML (this takes a few more seconds at the end of the run).

Aris import XMI file and no stylesheet.

The import do import objects and connections so is there a way to auto-create a diagram based on objects and connections?
