Hello everyone,
We are venturing in the modelisation of knowledge and competence management within our organisation with ARIS. If anyone in this group has experience about this, we are very interested in your "knowledge and competence".
Specifically we are looking for information on:
- types of models and objects
- level of detail
- do's and don'ts (best practices and pitfalls)
thanks in advance
Hello,
Unfortunately we did not get any feedback from the community on the items, so either the content is kept "secret" or the knowledge management is still not used by many people.
1) We therefore started looking for ourselves within ARIS what the possibilities of the models were as a function of our needs. Since we wanted to connect activities, roles or positions, knowledge/competences and tools & technologies, we tried to look at the different models that are standard within the software. We looked of course at the EPC, the VACD, the knowledge structure diagram, the knowledge map, the application diagram. All these models allowed to link several of the items together.
- The knowledge structure allows to connect knowledge/competence to tools.
- The knowledge map connects knowledge/competence to roles or positions
- The most flexible and complete model to use is the EPC. This model allows to connect directly or indirectly activities, roles or positions, knowledge/competencies and tools.
We also found out that through the use of an attribute you can define to what level a knowledge/competence is required for an activity and on the other hand to what level this knowledge/competence is available in a certain role or position.
2) For the level of detail, we are still looking for a good mix of information and maintainability. One of the solutions we are considering is to group the detailed items of knowledge and competence in knowlegde categories (in knowledge structure diagrams) and use the categories only in the EPC models.
3) As for the do's and don'ts, we are finding them out every time we try something new.
Hope this helps and that it triggers more discussions within the community.
Regards
Bruno
