Hi, community.

We have in house both ARIS and Documetum (as a Document Management System). We would like to integrate both systems. Therefore I have some questions:

  • What do I need to create the link between ARIS and the existing DMS? How do I do this? I found a possibility to enter a "new DMS" under the Administration module, but there I get stuck.
  •

  • Does ARIS allow us to create new documents within DMS based on a template that is stored there? When you create a new document in our DMS you need to select a corresponding template. So my question would be if I can create a link to this template so that a new document according to that template is created?

I hope someone has already encountered this situation. (yes, I'm rather optimistic by nature).

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Bruno,

Please refer ARIS Document Management System from aris download center(http://aris.softwareag.com/ARISDownloadCenter/ARISDownloadCenter?detail=Y&groupename=ARIS Platform 7.2.x&language=en).

It's possible to do what you want to do as using Entropysoft Content Federation Server(CFS) Adapter.

CFS is support EMC Documentum Center Service v5.1 or later.

Additionally, it's support adapters as below.

  - Alfresco 2.0 or later

  - Lotus Notes (Read-only) 6.5.4 (and later 6.5.x versions), 7.0, 8.0

  - Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 / 2010

  - Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 (WSS 3.0)

  - Open Text Livelink 9.2 SP1 or later

  - Open Text eDOCS 5.1.0.5 and 5.2.1 (previously Hummingbird DM)

  - Oracle UCM 10 or later (previously Stellent UCM)

  - Xerox DocuShare 4.0 and later

In ARIS, It's use DMS-title1, DMS-Link1 ~ DMS-title4, DMS-Link4 of system attribute in a model.

It can do below through Adapter in ARIS.

  - Upload documents

  - Start / Download documents

  - Create / Delete link to documents

  - Edit / Update linked document.

  - Flexible to connect to various Document Management System.

Unfortunatelly, I don't have a experience to implement ARIS with DMS.

Then I don't know detail information.

Regards

Toven.

Hi,

First of all I am not sure what do you want to mean by integrate? If the scenario is you are keeping procedure/reference doc in Documentum and you want to navigate to the document in Documentum from ARIS than you can put the link of the documentum document in Link1 Title 1 of ARIS object (That's what we did it here). Once you are clicked on the link it will take you to the Documentum and you can do all sort of stuff in Documentum. Sorry if you are thinking of something else than this very simple approach.

I am not sure of the CFS adapter Tovem was mentioning. Could you elaborate Tovem?

Thanks

Hello,

First of all, thanks for your input.

Indeed "integrate" was maybe not the best word. Of course the first purpose would be to open documents from the DMS starting from ARIS. We already apply this with the Link 1 attribute. You could call this the "static" connection.

Our second purpose, the "dynamic" one, would be to allow the creation of a new document in the DMS starting from ARIS. So clicking on the link would open the DMS, create a new document using a specific template document within the DMS itself.

So I guess we'll have to do some experiments with the Entropysoft CFS Adapter.

Cheers

Bruno
