Hi there!
I've been trying to find a way of updating data in the worksheets used by Mashzone data feeds (so the mashapps using that data feed can be also updated), but I found more obstacles than I was expecting:
- When saving a worksheet in one of mashzone's habilitated groups, the file is converted to "read only" and the only way of updating it is by overwriting the file;
- After overwriting, the mashapp is only updated after rebooting the MashZone service.
Is this really the only way of updating a mashapp? If not, were did I go so wrong?
Thanks! =)
Hi Valéria,
If you have access to the Business Server you can you Scheduled Reports to generate your MashApp data feeds directly without using an intermediate worksheet.
However if you are using worksheets you may want to check the cache time on the data feeds. Additionally you can use the refresh icon on the data feed (the two green arrows) when you have over written a worksheet.

Jonathan
Indeed, whenever MashZone reads external sources it caches its results. The timeout defaults to 5 min. So, there is no need to restart MashZone. You could either wait or decrease the cache timeout in the data feed editor.
Having this prerequisite you may consider the feed result visualization, too. Pressing the reload button in the footer of the viewer instructs all widgets to refresh and read their feeds again. This might be automated for each widget by activating data retrieval
