When I go to the D/L page of ARIS Express I have to "Yes, I accept the License Agreement and the Export Regulation of Software AG." When I open the link there is tons of License types - but nothing applicable to ARIS Express.
What license is applicable to ARIS Express?
There used to be a very good explanation at
http://www.ariscommunity.com/print/users/sstein/2010-09-29-commercial-use-aris-express-yes-you-can But this page is gone. I post the content of this post here (sorry for missing chunks). Would be nice to get an answer to understand the current position here. Thanks WolfStrange - now I found the link: (without the "print")
http://www.ariscommunity.com/users/sstein/2010-09-29-commercial-use-aris-express-yes-you-can
But still it would be nice to have a "refresh" comment from SAG.
Thanks
Wolf
Dear Wolf,
when you go to the download page of ARIS Express you have to accept the license agreement and export regulations of Software AG. Not accepting means that you are not allowed to download ARIS Express.
In Sebastian's post that you mentioned he tried to explain the most important rules of the ARIS Express license agreement.
The actual license agreement of ARIS Express is displayed during the installation.
Kind regards,
Eva
Hi Eva,
I understand that I have to accept before downloading - the question is what to accept - for what....
If I click on the link I get a text that basically starts with:
"
PART A: GENERAL TERMS PART B: ADDITIONAL TERMS COMMERCIAL LICENSE PART C: SOFTWARE AG LICENSE AGREEMENT FOR WEBMETHODS PARTNER SERVERS ONLY PART D: SOFTWARE AG EVALUATION LICENSE AGREEMENT FOR TRIAL VERSIONS OF SOFTWARE AG PRODUCT ONLY PART E: PRODUCT SPECIFIC TERMS for Adabas, Natural and NaturalONE Community Editions PART E: PRODUCT SPECIFIC TERMS for Tamino PART E: PRODUCT SPECIFIC TERMS for CentraSite PART E: PRODUCT SPECIFIC TERMS for Universal Messaging PART E: PRODUCT SPECIFIC TERMS for Terracotta PART E: PRODUCT SPECIFIC TERMS for Products running on Java SE Platform
As I do not have a "Commercial License Agreement", nor Adabas, nor Tamino nor anything else listed there I wonder which part of this document is applicable. ARIS Express uses Java - so is this about Java SE then? But the "Commercial Features" listed there do not make any sense in regard to ARIS Express. So this agreement does not make any sense to me when it comes to ARIS Express.
Basically - I was wondering whether Sebastian's explanation still holds true - I didn't see any relation to this in the aforementioned document - and as such I did not agree - as such I did not download - and as such I did not see a special ARIS Express license during an installation....
Anyway - I decided to agree to the SAG license now and did download the update. Nothing was displayed during the upgrade - so I assume that the old license still exists...
Thanks
Wolf
